On Saturday 10th of February 2018, The Kalsom Movement were given the opportunity to hold a breakout session and open a booth at UKEC’s Projek Amanat Negara XV at The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. The breakout session, titled Learn Inspire Kalsom is a new initiative by The Kalsom Movement that is aimed to give awareness to Malaysian university students worldwide regarding the issues related to education inequality in Malaysia.
The session started with a keynote address and introductory presentation about the history of the movement by Nawarzir, VP Strategic of The Kalsom Movement, followed by 3 Modules: Hidden Reality, Welcome To Projek Kalsom and Spread the Love that were presented by our committee members. These modules are tailored to give a taste of the Kalsom Movement Camps to the public, whereby it gives a simulation of the struggles and problems that the beneficiaries faced in their daily life and how The Kalsom Movement develops modules to help tackle those problems based on our 4 pillars.
The module also includes the new Kalsom Penpal Project, where every delegate was asked to write a postcard to potentially inspire a paradigm shift in a person. All postcards will be passed to the future beneficiaries of Kalsom Movement Summer Programmes. This is relevant to the PAN XV theme, “Think Again: A Paradigm Shift”.
We would like to express our appreciation to UKEC for the opportunity to run our first Learn Inspire Kalsom session and congratulations on a very successful event. And not to forget, a big thank you to the amazing delegates who took part in our session with such enthusiasm. We hope that the session has inspired you as much as you have helped inspire us.
Learn Inspire Kalsom is not a one-off project, but it is our new continuous initiative to spread our cause to the public as well as giving everyone the chance to experience being a facilitator at The Kalsom Movement Camps. We are open to any organisation or event wishing to collaborate to hold a Learn Inspire Kalsom session in their respective area. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for any inquiry.
